History

De Kiekduun’s name derives from the history of the area. Years ago, fields of rye surrounded the area where the Kiekduun is now located. The farmers would take their families to the highest point in the area, the dune (duun), to look (kiek) at the progress they were making in the rye fields. The founder of De Kiekduun worked on one of those rye fields. His legacy was left to his grandson and great grandson, Dirk & Floris Oud who now run the site.
